You’ve come to the realisation that you’re not as active as you would like to be, and you are trying to incorporate a little more exercise throughout the day. Apart from going to gym, here are a few routines you can incorporate while at work. This by no means replaces your regular exercise regime; it just assists in keeping the blood flowing during the day.

By sitting in your chair and lifting your legs parallel to your seat, you’re getting a very mild exercise in. This will also assist in improving circulation. Doing this while watching TV is also not a bad idea.

This will get the heart pumping, and when the heart is pumping, the body is burning fuel. This will assist in increasing the metabolism as well.

One of the oldest and best ways to increase your health by small increments, taking stairs increases the strength in your legs and is also a form of resistance training. Using your own body weight is a great way to get the blood flowing.

Obviously the further the copier, the more you walk and the more you walk, the more you move and the more your body moves the better for you. It assists in clearing your mind and will actually help increase your productivity. We all seem to be sitting on our brains and some movement helps to clear out the fog.

If this is an option to you, and will not cause a safety concern, this is an easy and effective way to ensure you’re including a little more activity in your daily work regime. Walking to work, definitely improves this, and then of course, taking a bicycle to work is the big one if safe to do so.

Never thought of this? This is a great way to get some weight training in, especially if you’re working out a problem in your mind. The exercise focuses your attention away from the problem, and will assist in getting a different angle on things. Plus, you’ll have the added benefit of being more toned.

If you have a private office, or a place where you’re not disturbed during your break, doing a few stretches and poses will not only serve to clear the dust off the old brain cells, but will also improve tone, strength and balance. It is a great way to refocus energy and getting you where you need to be mentally, and also has its benefits in terms of alleviating stress. Doing this first thing in the morning before everyone gets there is also a brilliant option to get your mind focused for the day ahead, as well as ending off the day, clearing your mind before you go home to you family.
