Why I relocated to Nigeria — Ashley Stephanie

With her  new  video, ‘Molo Molo’  enjoying massive airplay, Cameroon-born singer, Ashley Stephanie is back in Nigeria to up the ante.

The talented singer, who is reputed for her  unique genre of music called, “coupe Decale Masquirade”says she‘s back  in the country to  promote her music  as well as to serve as a source of inspiration to the young musicians. Ashley urged African music stars in diaspora to return to their roots, adding that “We have done a lot at the international music scene.

We need to bring some of those goodies back home. That’s  why I am here. I have attended  Calabar carnival for four consecutive times,  sharing the same stage with  top African music stars such as P-square, Awilo among others.”

“ Americans are looking up to Africans because we have good music and enviable dance steps. But there is something lacking in our music. The male singers are dominating the space. I think it’s about time female singers came out of their shells and fight for a position too.

We have so much love and respect for our male colleagues, but we also need a better  share of the attention. Nigeria should expect more of me because I am here to stay,” she said.
