"Weak people revenge. Strong people forgive. Intelligent people ignore." Weak, strong or intelligent. . .
Each descriptor brings to mind people that we have met at some point in time. But let's take a different perspective. What if we were on the other side and we were actually the ones who experienced revenge, being forgiven or ignored? What does each behavior look like? Revenge wreaks of evil. To ignore suggests detachment, limited compassion and alienation. However, forgiveness is the only one that forges ahead with an attitude of mercy for others. In order to be a receiver of forgiveness I must choose to forgive. To forgive and to be forgiven was Christ's greatest example of love and mercy. How much I can extend to others will impact the level which I receive. Isn't it incredible that we have the capacity and freedom to forgive! Sometimes the hardest person to extend mercy to or to forgive is ourselves. What better place to start than with ourselves!
