Fellow compatriots, following an emergency meeting of the management team of the #OccupyUnlimited and #BeTheChange organisation  to #ReclaimNigeria event, we write to update you as follows:

1. There has been an overwhelming support for the protest from patriotic Nigerians at home and around the world as was the case with #OccupyNass1.

2. There is a compelling agitation for the organisers to change the event date, so as to give more Nigerians at home and abroad enough time to prepare and attend. It was suggested we revert to the original date.

3. There is need to give the security and law enforcement agencies enough time to carry out due diligence for the event. This is a lawful protest. It is therefore our intention to fully cooperate with the authorities. Without the support of the security agencies we will not call Nigerians to the streets.

4. There is need to accept the suggestions and inputs as well as the engagement of several other interested human rights and civil activist organisations, including trade and labour unions. This is not just a Be The Change Organisations affair, but rather an all Nigerian affair.

5. There is also the need to give media organisations both at home and around the globe enough time to prepare and cover the event. There is a process of coordination going on and we are mandated to give the media a fair amount of time to key in to the demands of the Nigerian people.

In view of the reasons outlined above, we have unanimously agreed to reschedule the event date to begin on the 15th of November, 2016. There is no end date in mind until our demands are fully met. The occupy venue remain the National Assembly, Abuja.

We are working hard to make this historic event a safe, effective and a memorable one. While your attendance will be most appreciated, your support through logistics and financial support is key to the success of the protest. Saving Nigeria is our collective responsibility.

May God save Nigeria and Nigerians. Amen.
