Despite his recent fame and success all from one movie, Barkhad Abdi says he’s has no money.
The Oscar-nominated actor from Captain Phillips said he earned $65,000 for his performance in the film but that was two years ago.
After working on Captain Phillips, Barkhad says he went to work at his brother’s mobile phone store in Minneapolis, but had to quit when the movie was released.
‘How I thought about it was, like, When the movie came out, reviews either gonna be good or bad. Either way, I cannot be working here’, he told the New Yorker.
Barkhad who recently won the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor has a total of nine awards and 20 nominations for his role as Abduwali Muse in the US thriller film.
