What is a seed? From the webster definition, a seed is an object produced by a plant from which a new plant can grow. It is the beginning of something which continues to develop or grow. Jesus also gave the definition of a seed in Luke 8:11, "...The seed is the word of God...." Bringing all these definitions together we understand that the seed is the word of God which has capacity for growth and development. The Parable of the sower in Luke Chapter 8 from verse 4 to 15 (please read it) clearly gives us an understanding of what happens to the word of God every time. Verse 12, ".....then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved." The devil is a thief and he wants to steal the word from you. He knows that your future, liberty and growth is at the mercy of the word of God and he tries to steal it. The kind of soil that a seed is planted determines the kind of plant that comes out. Some seeds even die in the ground and never end up growing out. So we must make sure that this seed (God's word), falls on good ground and is nurtured very well for a great harvest. How do we nurture this seed? How do we make sure that it falls on good ground? How do we make sure that the devil does not steal this seed? The answer is in Joshua 1:8, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success." The book of the law is the word of God. You have to think on this word day and night and you have to obey the word of God always if you want to end up well. Your future is tied to the seed/word of God so don't play with it. It is well with you.
