A Public Affairs and Social Media Activist Prince Lucky Igbinedion has tackled the factional candidate of the PDP in the 2016 Edo Governorship election Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu on his recent claim of Iguododo Orhionmwon Local Government Origin. Mr Lucky on a message released on his facebook page noted that both Iguuododo community and Orhionmwon has been neglected by Previous Governments where Ize-Iyamu served as Secretary to State Government as well as Chief Of Staff to Governor Lucky Igbinedion. He wndered why Ize Iyamu love for Orhionmwon and Iguododo heightened now that he needed their votes and said that the action was a cosmetic move to get the votes of Orhionmwon people and continue with the neglect Orhionmwon experienced when Ize Iyamu was a major player in Edo State Government.
SUDDENLY, IZE-IYAMU DECLARES ORHIONMWON AS HIS PLACE OF ORIGIN ?
I and many sons and daughters of Orhionmwon were surprised when we heard that the factional candidate of the Makarfi led people democratic party Ize Iyamu has claimed to come from Iguododo Community in Orhionmwon as Edo 2016 Gubernatorial election drew closer.
Orhionmwon, a local government area which is richly endowed with Oil and Gas resources is basically the major reason why Edo State is listed as an Oil Producing State. Orhionmwon is largely nicknamed the ''goose that laid the golden'', Orhionmwon therefore contributes immensely to the FG Allocation Edo State receives as well as boosting the Internally generated Revenue of our State
Orhionmwon Local Government area was largely neglected when Lucky Igbinedion and Osagie Ize Iyamu were the major players in Edo State between 1999 to 2007. No known road was constructed and schools were abandoned. The youths were left unemployed with the only option of trekking through the Sahara desert to Europe as the only option to become successful in life. Government officials were stoned whenever they visited Orhionmwon during this period. On one occasion the governor's security details shot and ran over a teenage girl in their desperate attempt to escape the stoning from the people of Urhonigbe.
Sometime in 2006 the government with POI as the SSG influenced the relocation of the NYSC camp from Abudu the capital of Orhionmwon to Okada in Ovia in an action that was viewed as a continuous neglect and deliberate under-development agenda of Orhionmwon Local Government Area.
Traditional rulers, Political leaders and stakeholders in Orhionmwon fought and begged the government to rescind its decision but this fell on deaf ears. Since they didn't have the slightest idea that Ize Iyamu is from Orhionmwon they therefore didn't bother the then SSG. Ize Iyamu on his own part did nothing to revert this action. The people of Orhionmwon soon gave up and accepted their fate of total neglect since the only viable project that kept Abudu alive has been removed.
Surprisingly, soon after declaring his intention to run for Edo Governorship race, Ize Iyamu declared that his family originated from Iguododo in Orhionmwon. This is viewed as a joke especially considering the fact that Ize Iyamu served as an Assistant to Lucky Igbinedion in Oredo and declared Oredo as his LGA of Origin. Also when he served as SSG and Chief Of Staff Respectively, he declared Oredo as his Local Government of Origin. Even the governor of Edo State Comrade Adams Oshiomole confessed that he just heard for the first time that Ize Iyamu hails from Orhionmwon.
WHY THE DESPERATION FOR ORHIONMWON ???
In 2015 elections INEC announced that Orhionmwon Local Government area had the second highest number of registered voters. But surprisingly, INEC confirmed that Orhionmwon recorded the highest number of PVCs collected. Orhionmwon is therefore a very dominant determinant force on who wins Edo Guber polls. This is the parochial reason why Ize Iyamu has suddenly declared that he and his family originated from Orhionmwon.
To me the decision by Ize Iyamu to declare Orhionmwon LGA as his LGA of Origin is not only a primitive political tactics but a deliberate cosmetic attempt to play on the intelligence of the people of Orhionmwon. The neglect of my people by POI is still very fresh in our memory and such a cosmetic action cannot deter us from using our votes to ensure that we do not fall into their trap a second time.
Today, Orhionmwon has experienced tremendous dividends of democracy from the Adams Oshiomole APC Government. There are red roofs revolutions in all the wards in Orhionmwon. My ward Igbanke East has 3 schools totally renovated and equipped with others partly renovated. Also four road were tarred and other development strides can also be seen there. This same level of development spreads across all nooks and crannies of Orhionmwon Local Government Area from 2008 till date. In this circumstance, the simple and objective thing we can do is only pray for a continuity of this developmental stride.
I therefore urge all sons and daughters of Orhionmwon to disregard the declaration in a hurry by Ize Iyamu that he hails from Orhionmwon as a political trick to get their votes and a sinister move to commence the neglect and under-development of Orhionmwon LGA once again. Osagie Ize Iyamu's name has popped up in too many scandals from grabbing of Obas land, Denying The Obas and the Bini Chiefs of a certain percentage of their rightful emoluments, Jonathan's Rice Diversion scandal to the recent use of monies meant to fight Boko Haram insurgency to prosecute the failed election bid of goodluck Jonathan in contravention of the money laundering prohibition acts of the FRN. Osagie Ize Iyamu is simply integrity challenged and should be rejected at all costs.
