OPINION| "Terrorism is like a troubled water with many ripples" - Angela Uyi

My word today is PREVENTION.
A government that allocates low budget to the education sector will spend more money fighting terrorism year in and out.
You use gun to kill terrorists but you can use education to kill terrorism. It's as simple as that.

Anyone advocating calm and tolerance in the face of terrorism does not feel sufficiently angry about the murder of innocent people and the millions that are internally displayed who are their fellow citizens.

Terrorists were first our brothers and sisters until they became terrorists. The moment they chose the line of terror, they ended up being our brothers and sisters. They don't recognize family because they are programmed to kill. Don't shade them when they seek shelter in your compound but expose them.

Misgoverned and miseducation are the reasons why they chose to become terrorists. Government is aware of the causes of terrorism and the media are not helping issue with their bias report of immediately shifting the blame onto some section or religion by making it look like all terrorists are Muslims there by helping the government to hide behind the scapegoat in order to camouflage the limits of our security and the shortcomings in integration policies and the education system, as if the cause of these attacks were completely strange to us.

The possible root causes of terrorism:
A lack of Education, Economic Stagnation, Moral Seclusion, Social Exclusion, A Lack of representation, An absence of professional opportunities, A lack of dialogue and listening, A rejection of others, Discrimination, Fear, resentment, hatred, ignorance.
But never religion!

And these reasons are not one-sided, the fault is never one-sided!
We must ask who are the people on the other sides of a coin?

"Education is the best way to stop terrorism and the quickest weapon to kill terrorists." Lack of education amongst the people has been put forward as a prime reason of terrorism.

We as a people must demand for strong institutions and not strong individuals; Injustice is a cause of terrorism. People get offended and hurt by the justice system that they choose to resort to acts of violence in order to protest the on-going injustice.

Several people has given us their reasons why they think Boko Haram members are killing innocent people but has anyone proffer solution to their grievances?
If truly they are against western Education or our lifestyle they should be killing people in the South, west and  east and not just in the Northern part of Nigeria.

Let’s stop saying every time that they are wiping out at our Western lifestyle. What do you say when they kill people in Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, and others? That they’re lashing out against their Northern delights?
Bomb Borno, Adamawa bomb, and what next? Yet we pretend not knowing who is fighting who, but more than that we risk killing hundreds of innocent civilians in every dangerous bombing. Moreover, eradicating terrorism can’t happen through weapons, acting this way is like cutting off the Hydra of Lerna’s head. For every one that is cut off, ten more grow in its place.

PREVENTION is the only way to eradicate terrorism. Government must invest in the lives of the people, provide access to education and justice. To do away with terrorism, we need to trace it to its source. All you need to do is follow the circulation of money in order to close the loop and understand who does what and to what ends.

Government that is truly for the common man must be ready to eradicate terrorism and not just by sending troops to the Sambisa forest to kill and be killed; it goes beyond the use of war arsenal. If terrorism is defeated in a society where almost 60% are unemployed, 40% are underemployed government will keep on fighting terrorism year in and year out without meaningful results.

Terrorism is like a troubled water with many ripples you hit and the ripples goes on and on.
According to Kofi Annan, "Violent Radicalism is political; Religious fundamentalist are exploiting religion as a cloak to pursue violent political agenda."
Enough is Enough!
It's time for the people to speak up. Speak up and make your voice loud and clear. The violence we see everyday it's political; it all depends on your understanding of violent political agenda.
They pretend it's religious and often religion has nothing to do with it. Each of the major religions teaches us to love, respect, and have humility. Then tell me, where is the contradictions emanating from?
The fact that they are using religion to cover up political crimes, we would never know the real cause of violence, crime and terrorism in the country but I am here tonight, I challenge our political leaders to tell the world the root cause of violence, crimes and terrorism in the country and what made it religious?
We must know the truth the leaders are hiding the truth from the people. It's happening everywhere, not only in Nigeria.
Religion in a way is education in social morality how can you go and kill innocent people and pretend you are doing it in the name of one religion?
Which religion if I may ask? Extremism prospered and violence increase because majority of the Nigerian people have refused to speak up.
Silent is not an option.
You must speak up before it gets to you.
If you are silent in the face of injustice, Violent radicalism, corruption, terrorism it is not only evil; it is demonic.
Defeating terrorism is the challenge of our times and we must confront it with rationality and brilliance.
