When you’re in the spotlight it’s inevitable that the general public is going to judge you for everything and anything, from that questionable pair of shoes you wore while stumbling out of a bar at 4am last weekend to your romantic choices. In fact, your romantic choices are probably what people will speculate about the most, and the couples included on this list are absolutely no exception. These are the couples that tabloid fodder lambasted from day one, these are the couples that people scoffed at, proclaiming that they were  ”never going to last”. But last they did, despite the haters and despite the apparently slim likelihood that they would stick it out for the long haul.

 1.Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith have been together for 20 years, which may be somewhat perplexing to some due to the constant wave of cheating rumors surrounding them. They’ve made it work despite the haters, so good for them!

2.Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo

Nick Lachey first met Vanessa Minnillo when she starred in his video for a song about his divorce from Jessica Simpson… do I smell a rebound, or what? They dated for a while, broke up, and got back together. Not exactly the best recipe for a strong relationship. Nevertheless they’re still together and are even married with a child.

3.Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott

This couple was basically a train wreck from the start. They began their relationship when they were both married to other people and it all escalated from there. Several trashy reality TV shows and a cheating scandal later, and this couple shows no sign of letting up. Good for them?

4.LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian

When a relationship begins with the end of two other relationships and a massive media frenzy of an affair, you’d be forgiven for giving that couple a little bit of a side eye and some very modest predictions for how long said relationship will last. Despite everything though, LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian have been together for over five years now. That doesn’t mean things are exactly stable, previously Cibrian had cheated on his ex, Brandi Glanville while she was pregnant. LeAnn Rimes has also publicly expressed concern that he might cheat on her too. Real healthy!

5.Bill and Hillary Clinton

Kudos to the couple that managed to get through the massive media frenzy was the Lewinsky scandal! It can’t be pleasant when your husband of twenty something years has an affair (or whatever the heck that was) with a twenty two year old at the best of times, let alone when he is the president of the United States AND the whole world is judging in the mean time. Hillary Clinton must be some kind of saint, that’s the only explanation.

6.David and Victoria Beckham

There’s nothing particularly strange about this couple, except that you typically wouldn’t expect the marriage between a good looking soccer star and a generic pop star to be anything more than some kind of PR stunt that would last no longer than a couple of years. it looks like David and Victoria are the real deal, they’ve been married fifteen years now and have four (adorable!) children. Nyaww.

7.Jay Z and Beyonce

Have you noticed that the couples on this list have a LOT of rumors pertaining to their unhappiness but there isn’t actually any, you know, solid evidence that their marriage is on the rocks? It seems to be a common theme, and one that extends to hip-hop’s first couple! Whatever haters, Jay Z and Beyonce are more in love than ever (that is, if Instagram and Beyonce’s website are to be believed… and why one earth wouldn’t they be?!)

8.Natalie Portman & Benjamin Millepied

Here we have another case of people immediately dismissing a relationship that began with a cheating scandal. Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepeid’s romance blossomed when they met while Natalie Portman was training as a ballerina for Black Swan. A marriage and a baby later must mean that these two crazy kids are in it for the long haul.

9.Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez

People generally seem to be skeptical of Halle Berry’s relationships since her exes leave a lot to be desired – her ex Gabriel Aubry immediately springs to mind. Current boo, Olivier Martinez, has even engaged in fisticuffs with him! The pair are still together, despite all the rumors surrounding their relationships and bitter exes.

10.Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake

This couple may have recently tied the knot and Biel may allegedly have a bun in the oven, but that’s not enough for naysayers to stop wagging their tongues about these two. There have been a lot of rumors about Timberlake’s apparent unfaithfulness with a number of big names in the past, but is any of it true? I’m not sure… I’ll just have to ask a “source” and get back to you!

11.Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys

Have you noticed a pattern yet? Here we have yet another relationship on the list that apparently began with an affair. Word on street is Alicia Keys got pregnant with Swizz Beats while he was still with his ex-wife, Mashonda. He also got another woman pregnant in around the same time period, as ya do… Anyhow, people can talk all they want, it hasn’t stopped this couple from staying together.

12.Wilmer Valderrama & Demi Lovato

People definitely saw Wilmer Valderrama and Demi Lovato as history repeating itself, especially with Valderrama’s tendency to date girls a lot younger than him (see: Lindsay Lohan) and just, well, a lot of girls in general. However he seems to have settled down a lot since meeting Demi, the couple have been dating for four years.

13.Woody Allen and Soon-Yi Previn

There’s a weird incestuous edge to this relationship (in case you didn’t know, Soon-Yi Previn is the adopted daughter of Allen’s former partner, Mia Farrow) and in combination with the startling age gap, this relationship had a plethora of naysayers from the start. Well, they’re still together over 20 years later, whether people like it or not.

14.Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt

Do you ever look at a couple and wonder, “What do they even talk about??” Speidi is definitely that kind of couple. They first met on MTV’s hit reality show The Hills. Everyone said they’d never last and shockingly, they did. Apparently they’re completely super broke now but at least they’ve got each other… and all of Heidi’s new plastic body parts.

15. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

Here we have the holy grail of couples that y’all never thought would last and just look at them now. If ever there was a couple to make you feel bad about the sorry state of your relationships, it’s this one. These guys have about twenty million kids (give or take) adopted from the far reaches of the globe, they do charity work, activism, you name the do-gooder activity; rest assured, they have more than likely done it. Come on you naysayers, Jennifer Aniston’s over it – shouldn’t you be too?
