DPA Presents Top 10 Goals In Professional Football In Year 2013

Lionel Messi. Cristiano Ronaldo. Franck Ribery. Gareth Bale. Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Arjen Robben. Neymar. These are just some of the elite stars that stun us with an incredible mix of skill and class every week. However, football is a global sport and players that may never get the chance of mixing it with the best in the world are still capable of producing a wonder strike. How some of these goals found the Internet is truly a wonder.

So, here is the top 10 goals in professional football for the year 2013...Please share your comment below if you feel indifferent to the lists
See list after cut...

1. David Luiz - Chelsea vs Fulham
His defensive qualities may come into question, but Luiz is most certainly a threat going forward, even if it can get his side into danger. However, the only thing in danger here was the net.

The Brazilian's rocket from 30-yards out swerved into Mark Schwarzer's top corner. The Australian 'keeper was presumably so shocked that he left for Chelsea in the summer to ensure that he would never face Luiz again.
2.  Raul Jimenez - Mexico vs Panama
Fernando Arce's powerful pass towards Raul Jimenez resulted in the Mexican producing a first touch that was most likely not what he intended. However, it worked to his advantage as he teed up the striker for the chance to attempt the spectacular.

Despite challenges from the Panama defenders, Jimenez leapt and connected to score this quality overhead kick.
3.  Gareth Bale - Tottenham vs West Ham United

Sometimes the term 'assist' is a bit generous. A Paul Scholes cross fielder is statistically equal to Tom Carroll's pass. Not taking anything away from the quality of Tom Carroll, but his 'assist' is about as kind as it gets.

As soon as Bale pushed it a yard to his left, he pulls his leg back and his effort flies past Jussi Jaaskelainen into the top corner. The Finnish goalkeeper had absolutely no chance.
4. Lionel Messi - Barcelona vs Atletico Bilbao
A goal that just typifies just how good Lionel Messi is. Thiago gives the ball to the Argentine 25-yards out and he manages to shimmy past the challenges of three Bilbao players, before putting the ball away exactly how you would expect Messi to do.
5.  Luis Suarez - Liverpool vs Norwich City
Is he the best player in the Premier League? Is he at the same level of Messi and Ronaldo? Does John Ruddy have nightmares of facing Suarez every night?
This goal puts up a good case for the answer to all of those questions being yes. As the ball came over his shoulder, the Norwich defenders made the mistake of not closing down the Uruguayan and boy did he make them pay.
6.  Robin van Persie - Manchester United vs Aston Villa
Everything about this goal is incredible. As Shinji Kagawa spread the play out wide towards Wayne Rooney, he sensationally floated the ball 50-yards into the path of the deadly van Persie.

Running at full pace with the ball coming over his shoulder, the Dutchman managed to volley the ball past Brad Guzan in the Villa goal with his deadly left boot.
7.  Clement Grenier - Olympique Lyonnais vs Real Madrid
I've never seen a goal like this before, and I'm not sure if I'll ever see anything quite like it again.

Alexandre Lacazette's pacey cross found Grenier 18-yards out. The Lyon midfielder then decided to try a volley in which he turned his head so that he could not see the ball and connected with it. The ball then found the corner of the net as it went past a despairing Diego Lopez.
8.  Jack Wilshere - Arsenal vs Norwich City
This is simply one of the best team goals ever. Santi Cazorla to Wilshere to Cazorla to Olivier Giroud to Wilshere to Giroud to Wilshere. Six touches, six passes executed with such casual skill and excellence in such a small space with each being more important and more brilliant than the one before. All of this was done in one fluent piece of play that any team in the world would struggle to contain.
9.  Pajtim Kasami - Fulham vs Crystal Palace
Kasami was little known in the Premier League, but he certainly made everyone stop and look with this phenomenal goal. Sascha Reither's long ball down the channel meant Kasami had to sprint to get there before a Palace player. The Swiss international did brilliantly to control the ball, but then did sensationally to be able to find the net while still running at full pace.
10.  Diego Costa - Atletico Madrid vs Getafe
Brazilian turned Spaniard Costa has set La Liga alight this season and has been an instant remedy for the loss of Radamel Falcao at Atletico Madrid. With 23 goals in 23 appearances - at the time of writing - this is his best so far.

Atletico's fifth goal in the 7-0 thrashing, is a great representation of how brilliant Costa has been this season.
Enjoy!
